Place Value
Digits have different values depending on their place in a number.
Here is the number 2,032,002 represented in a place value grid.
- When a column is empty, we use a zero as a placeholder when writing the number.
- We write and say the number by grouping the millions, the thousands and the tens:
- Two million, thirty-two thousand, and two.
- Always place your commas by counting in groups of 3 from the ones column.
