English

Our English curriculum covers all aspects of the English language. Our priority is to develop our written and spoken English through a love of reading.  English is at the heart of our creative curriculum and develops and improves basic skills, as well as helping children, at all levels, master the technicalities of the English language.

We use the Letters and Sounds Phonics scheme to teach phonics and a combination of Oxford Reading Tree, Songbird Phonics, Collins Big Cat Phonics and Bug Club Phonics reading books to teach reading in EYFS and KS1.

If you're looking for books for your children to read we can recommend this one:

Cross Curricular Activities

At St Andrew's we aim to make as many links with other subjects as possible. This helps to reinforce learning and encourages the children to remember new ideas and concepts.
